October 28th Creole celebrations
October 28, Thursday, will be celebrated as International Creole Language and Culture Day. This year, several activities are being organised, including a conference focusing on the Creole language.
The Catholic Church has also joined the celebrations by organising the “Mwa Kreol” and launching the Mauritian Creole Academy.
The contribution of government in the promotion of Creole language and culture has been especially prominent in education, with the integration of Creole in the school curriculum.
